Prison News June 2026
The latest edition of Prison News has arrived!
This issue brings together stories that reflect the Singapore Prison Service's continued commitment to operational excellence, people development, and international collaboration. From strengthening regional partnerships to celebrating the contributions of our officers and community partners, the feature highlights our collective efforts to keep Singapore safe and give ex-offenders a second chance.
Discover how SPS brought together correctional professionals through the International Correctional Leadership Programme and the Asian Prisons Lockdown Challenge to exchange ideas and strengthen operational capabilities. We also recognise the tireless dedication and hard work of our officers and community partners at the SPS Staff Appreciation Night and the Yellow Ribbon Community Project Appreciation and Awards Luncheon, as well as showcase how SPS's First-Time Supervisor Course equips new leaders with the skills to succeed.
Beyond our shores, SPS received international recognition with the Reducing Reoffending Award at the International Corrections and Prisons Association Annual Conference in Türkiye. This issue also marks an important leadership transition for SPS. After more than 30 years of dedicated service, Ms Shie Yong Lee handed over command to Mr Matthew Wee Yik Keong as Commissioner of Prisons, as he leads SPS into its next chapter of excellence.
