Psychology-Based Correctional Programmes (PCPs)
Psychology-Based Correctional Programmes aims to:
Motivate inmates to change and
Work on their negative thinking patterns that led to their offending.
These programmes also provide opportunities for inmates to practice and enhance their ability to communicate with others and manage their emotions, so that they can work towards a life free from drugs and crime.
Work Programmes
Work programmes aim to instil good discipline and inculcate good work ethics in inmates, as most of them may not have held stable jobs before their incarceration.
Education Programmes
Education programes have been offered in prisons since the 1960s. Singapore Prison Service (SPS) strongly advocates and recognises that education in prisons is one of the vital elements to reintegrate inmates into society.

Personal Development Activities
Personal Development Activities complement the regime that inmates are going through. These activities aim to cultivate or further inmates’ interests in areas such as performing arts and arts and craft.
Family Programmes
These programmes help to increase inmates’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in maintaining ties and building stronger relationships with their family members. In turn, this facilitates their reintegration back to a supportive family network upon their release and helps minimise their risk of re-offending.
Gang Renunciation
Singapore Prison Service (SPS) has in place gang management strategies with supporting programmes to encourage inmates with gang affiliations to desist from gang involvement and sever their gang ties. Some of the programmes implemented include the Gang Renunciation Programme and the Tattoo Removal Programme.
Release Preparation Programmes
Singapore Prison Service prepares inmates to be released for re-integration into the society. The programme aims to equip inmates with useful self-motivation, problem-solving and coping skills to handle the challenges and immediate issues faced upon their release.
