Upon admission to prison, all inmates undergo an admission process that includes the safekeeping of personal belongings, security checks, sentence verification, medical screening and an admission briefing.

Personal Belongings and Security Checks

Inmates' personal belongings are documented and kept for safekeeping. The belongings will either be returned to inmates upon their release or, with the inmate's consent, collected by their family members from an appointed vendor's warehouse.

They will be informed of their length of sentence and earliest date of release*, after which they will be medically screened and examined by a Prison Medical Officer. An admission briefing and interview will also be conducted.

*Details of inmate’s sentences meted out by the Courts will be verified to ensure there are no discrepancies
