The New Charis Mission’s Unlabelled Run 2025 – The Yellow Ribbon Project as an Impact Partner
Singapore, 28 June 2025 – The New Charis Mission held its flagship Unlabelled Run at the OCBC Square, Singapore Sports Hub on 28 June 2025. The Unlabelled Run, which was launched in 2016, advocates the removal of negative labels against ex-offenders, youths, elderly, neurodivergent individuals, and physically challenged individuals, championing for a more inclusive, cohesive, and compassionate society. Themed “Drop the Label, See the People”, the Unlabelled Run 2025 emphasises the importance of enabling individuals to redeem their dignity, maximise their potential, and recognise their contributions to society.
2. This year, the Yellow Ribbon Project joined the Unlabelled Run 2025 as an impact partner for the first time. Through this collaboration, the Yellow Ribbon Projects hopes to reinforce shared efforts to remove negative labels associated with ex-offenders, and support their reintegration into society, and amplify the Yellow Ribbon’s tagline, “We are each other’s second chances”.
3. Guest-of-Honour, Minister of Manpower Dr Tan See Leng, flagged off more than 6,200 participants, including ex-offenders, volunteers, community partners, and staff members from the Singapore Prison Service and Yellow Ribbon Singapore.
4. After completing the run, participants enjoyed live music performances by Faith Music and partner booths at the post-run carnival. Led by Minister Tan, participants also took part in a mass activity in removing their arm sleeves, signifying the removal of negative labels from all individuals.
5. “The Unlabelled Run is more than a run—it’s a clarion call to Singaporeans that we must unite to build an inclusive, cohesive, and compassionate society,” said Rev. Don Wong, Founder and Executive Director of The New Charis Mission. “By partnering with Yellow Ribbon Project, we amplify the message that everyone deserves a second chance.”
6. “We are happy to be supporting the Unlabelled Run as an impact partner this year. Together with The New Charis Mission and supporters of the run, we hope to inspire more organisations, groups and individuals to remove negative labels and provide equal opportunities for ex-offenders to reintegrate into society, thus empowering them to pay-it-forward as contributing members of society,” said Mr Sunny Lee, Chairperson of the Yellow Ribbon Project Steering Committee.
7. In view of the Yellow Ribbon Project’s collaboration with The New Charis Mission for the Unlabelled Run 2025, the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run will not take place this year and will return with a fresh look in 2026.
