Media Statement on Traffic Accident Involving a Prison Vehicle

There was a road traffic accident on 19 December 2025, between a vehicle belonging to the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) and two private vehicles, along the CTE (towards SLE) after Jalan Bahagia. The SPS vehicle was transporting an inmate and two escorting officers from Tan Tock Seng Hospital back to Selarang Park Complex after the inmate’s medical appointment. The SPS vehicle was rear-ended by one of the private vehicles and hit the other private vehicle in front of it.

Following the accident, SPS immediately alerted the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) for assistance. The inmate and one of the escorting officers who were trapped at the rear of the SPS vehicle were rescued by SCDF using hydraulic rescue equipment. The inmate was assessed at the scene by a SCDF paramedic to have minor injuries. He was sent by SPS to Changi General Hospital and was discharged after medical treatment. The two escorting officers sustained minor injuries and subsequently received medical treatment.
