Incare (In Prison)
Discover how SPS guides inmate's rehabilitation journey in prison through structured programmes, learning opportunities and support for positive change.
Upon admission to prison, inmates undergo assessment to determine their risks and needs.
Based on their identified risks and needs, appropriate programmes are charted for intervention. These programmes include:
Religious services
Learning Prison
The Learning Prison (LP) supports rehabilitation by fostering an environment that encourages learning and positive change during incarceration.
Inmates are encouraged to take ownership of their rehabilitation, develop prosocial coping strategies and apply their learning towards positive change.
My Action Plan (MAP) is a personal planning tool that helps inmates chart their rehabilitation goals and take ownership of their rehabilitation journey.
Correctional Unit Officers (CUOs) guide inmates through this process by discussing their goals and developing their action plans with them. CUOs also engage inmates on their learning and reflections after programmes, helping them reinforce and apply what they have learnt.

SPS also partners Yellow Ribbon Singapore (opens in new tab) (YRSG) to offer inmates opportunities to attend Skills Training courses.
These courses support inmates in developing foundational skills and job-related competencies to better prepare them for employment after release.
Before their release, inmates are provided with support to secure jobs and maintain their subsequent employment. Through the deepening of skills and career progression, inmates will be better prepared for their reintegration into the community.
