Vocational Skills Training

Singapore Prison Service (SPS) partners Yellow Ribbon Singapore (YRSG) (opens in new tab) to support inmates' skills and career development, with the goal of facilitating their eventual reintegration into society.
As part of these efforts, YRSG administers nationally accredited skills training programmes, with reference to Singapore's Skills Framework. YRSG also works with Trade Associations and Chambers of Commerce to ensure that its suite of training programmes remains relevant across various industry sectors.
YRSG's training programmes cover a range of transferable, digital and industry-relevant skills, including:
Critical Core Skills – transferable skills applicable across different jobs
Digital Literacy Skills
Employment preparation courses
Technical Skills and Competencies in sectors such as:
Food and beverage
Logistics
Retail
Beauty and wellness
Environmental services
Media
These training opportunities equip ex-offenders with skills and competencies relevant to different job roles, while providing a foundation for further skills development after release.
Launched by YRSG in 2019, the TAP (Train-and-Place) & Grow Initiative complements existing skills training by working with external partners to provide targeted, industry-relevant training in prison.
The initiative aims to strengthen inmates' employability and support their longer-term skills and career development in preparation for reintegration.
