A Low and Stable Recidivism Rate

Singapore Prison Service (SPS) enforces the safe and secure custody of inmates, and rehabilitates them to prevent re-offending for a safe Singapore. Strong community partnerships and support for second chances have helped keep the two-year recidivism rates in Singapore low and stable.

The two-year recidivism rate for the 2023 release cohort is 21.9 per cent, compared with about 44 per cent two decades ago.
